Job Purpose
Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends and families.
- Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications and self-care skills, answering questions.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
- Resolves patients’ problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from healthcare support personnel.
- Protected patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintain equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies, using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding a requests; building rapport; participating in team problem – solving methods.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Identifies, promotes and assists patients to understand major determinants of health
- Observe patient’s physical, mental and emotional status
- Assist Physician in diagnosis, treatment and follow up
- Maintain inventory list and medical stock
- Maintain infection control activities in the working area
- Provide health education to the patient and families to develop healthy living behavior
- Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential
- Develop nurturing relationships with patients
- Identifies and implements health promotion strategies for early detection and screening for communication diseases
- Uses the nursing process in the promotion of patient holistic health and wellbeing Competency
- Identifies, records and take appropriate action to reduce incidence of disease transmission
- Identifies environmental and behavioral factors which may compromise patient safety
- To provide medication, check vitals, provide invasive procedure etc
- Reduces the risk of disease transmission through applying standard (universal) infection control principles
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the management or the chief Medical doctor
- Provides nursing care that demonstrates respect for human rights
Knowledge / Education / Skills
- DOH/DHA Licensed
- Diploma in nursing
- Fluent in English
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions;
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance;
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly with patients and staff.
Working Environment
On site working. Occasionally exposed to challenging situations, which heighten the physical, sensory and emotional demands of the role.
Responsibility
Information: Shared responsibility for the confidentiality, security and accuracy of records, data and information. Ensuring good quality documentation, which meets the Organisational requirements Regulatory guidelines and statutory requirements.
Communication & Interaction: Communications will regularly require some judgement involving the seeking and gathering of information with the need for some explanation. May have interactions which contain distressing information.
Safeguarding
All colleagues have a responsibility to protect and safeguard vulnerable individuals at risk (whether children or adults). Colleagues must be aware of local child and adult protection procedures and who to contact within the Local Authority Safeguarding team for further advice. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding awareness training and to undertake additional training appropriate to their role.
