Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer / BI Engineer (Remote) with experience in designing ETL/ELT pipelines, managing databases, and developing dashboards using Power BI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling end-to-end data workflows, from data extraction and transformation to visualisation and insights generation. This role provides an opportunity to be a part of a growing modern Data & AI Engineering team working to build an industry-transforming product.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, Airflow, and SQL to manage and optimise data lake and data warehouse solutions in an AWS environment.
  • Extract and integrate data from third-party APIs and optimise queries to improve performance and ensure efficient database operations.
  • Develop and maintain dynamic dashboards and reports in Power BI for management consumption as per stakeholder requirements.
  • Perform data profiling and source system analysis to ensure data quality and integrity. Independently validate and assess the accuracy of data outputs before delivery, ensuring results align with business expectations.
  • Proactively evaluate different technical approaches and suggest alternatives to ensure optimal outcomes within the broader system and business context.
  • Implement best practices in data engineering, architecture, and analysis for the continuous improvement of data solutions.

 

Requirements
 

  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT pipeline development, and data warehouse management solutions on AWS. Strong expertise in SQL (T-SQL, MS SQL) with a focus on query optimisation and database performance tuning.
  • Proficiency in Python (including data-specific libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, etc.) and Airflow for ETL/ELT processes. Experience extracting and managing data from third-party APIs (REST, JSON).
  • Strong expertise in Power BI for data visualisation, dashboard creation, and insight generation through data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and evaluate multiple technical solutions in the broader context of system architecture and business goals while proactively identifying problems and implementing alternative solutions
  • Strong communication skills and familiarity with agile methodologies with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Willing to work in AU Shift, 3:30am to 12:30pm IST, Mon to Fri.

 

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Exposure to AWS cloud data services such as RedShift, Athena, Lambda, Glue, etc.
  • Experience with additional BI tools like Tableau/QlikSense.
  • Knowledge of data lake architectures and best practices.
  • Experience with AI-driven data analytics, or integrating AI models with BI solutions.
