Role Overview
We’re looking for a Mobile Software Engineer to join our product engineering team and help build the mobile applications used by engineers and geologists working on underground construction and tunneling projects.
This role is ideal for someone with 3–5 years of experience who enjoys building production mobile applications and taking ownership of features end-to-end.
You’ll help develop and maintain our iOS field application, which enables engineers to capture structured geological observations, perform LiDAR-based scans of underground environments, and synchronize spatial data with our cloud platform.
This is a mobile software engineering role first, with spatial computing and 3D data as an important part of the problem space.
What You’ll Do
Design, implement, and maintain features for GroundedAI’s mobile field application
Develop and improve workflows for LiDAR-based spatial scanning and mapping
Help port existing iPad scanning workflows to iPhone platforms
Work with 3D and spatial data including meshes, imagery, and geospatial metadata
Improve reliability and performance of field workflows used in challenging environments
Collaborate with backend and product engineers to implement end-to-end features
Debug and resolve issues across mobile clients, data synchronization, and spatial processing pipelines
Contribute to technical discussions around mobile architecture and future platform support
What We’re Looking For
Required
~3–5 years of professional experience building mobile applications
Experience developing native iOS applications using Swift
Strong fundamentals in software design, debugging, testing, and code quality
Experience contributing to or shipping production mobile apps used by real users
Comfort working with APIs, data models, and client–server architectures
Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems
Interest in working with spatial data, mapping, or 3D systems
Spatial / Graphics Experience (Nice to Have)
Experience with SwiftUI
Familiarity with ARKit, LiDAR, or spatial computing frameworks
Experience working with 3D meshes, point clouds, or spatial reconstruction
Exposure to Metal, SceneKit, or RealityKit
Experience building offline-first mobile applications
Android or cross-platform mobile development experience
