NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact. On behalf of a client in our partner network, we are currently looking for a Business Operations Manager to join their team.

About the Company

Our client is a Series B marketplace business headquartered in London, connecting skilled tradespeople with homeowners and property managers across the UK. With £15m ARR, 150 employees, and a rapidly expanding supply and demand base, the business is at an inflection point — investing in the operational systems and processes that will allow it to scale efficiently. Backed by a leading European growth equity firm, the company has ambitious plans to reach £50m ARR within 24 months and expand into two new European markets.

The Role

As Business Operations Manager, you will be the connective tissue that keeps the business running effectively as it scales. Reporting to the COO, you will own a broad portfolio of operational priorities, from process design and tool implementation to cross-functional project management and performance reporting. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and building things from scratch.

What You'll Do

  • Identify operational bottlenecks across Sales, Supply, Customer Success, and Finance and design scalable processes to address them.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional improvement projects from scoping and stakeholder alignment through to implementation and results tracking.
  • Own the company's operating cadence, including OKR tracking, weekly leadership reviews, and quarterly planning cycles.
  • Work with department heads to build and maintain operational dashboards that surface the metrics that matter most to the business.
  • Support the COO on special projects including market expansion planning, vendor selection, and outsourcing decisions.

What We're Looking For

  • 4–7 years of experience in business operations, management consulting, or a Chief of Staff-type role in a fast-growing company.
  • Strong project management skills, comfortable running multiple workstreams simultaneously and holding people accountable to deadlines.
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving, with the ability to build and interpret operational dashboards using tools like Looker, Tableau, or similar.
  • Excellent communicator, able to work across functions and influence without direct authority.
  • Experience in marketplace or two-sided platform businesses is a meaningful advantage.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of £70,000 – £90,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Share options in a high-growth, venture-backed business.
  • Private health cover, pension, and hybrid working from London.
