**Position Overview: Certified Medical Assistant 

- Internal Medicine**

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) in Internal Medicine operates under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This description does not encompass all responsibilities and may require the CMA to undertake additional tasks as directed by supervisory personnel. A professional demeanor is essential; this includes maintaining cleanliness, orderly appearance, composure in high-pressure situations, empathy, and a genuine rapport with patients. Emotional stability is critical due to the nature of patient care, and discretion is mandatory in handling all confidential matters related to the practice, its staff, and patients.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Conducts clinical procedures including blood draws, injections, immunizations, laboratory tests, and other relevant tasks within the scope of Medical Assistant certification.

- Aids the physician in examinations by measuring vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.

- Ensures examination rooms are sanitized, organized, and adequately stocked with medical supplies.

- Manages patient communications, including answering phone calls and providing instructions as directed by the physician. - Coordinates the requisitioning of medical supplies to maintain optimal inventory levels.

- Assists in the documentation of medical records, including completing referral forms, lab requisitions, and other necessary paperwork as instructed by the physician.

- Supports patients in transitioning to and from examination rooms and facilitates their preparation for exams and procedures.

- Collaborates with the nursing team to execute medical procedures as per physician directives.

- Participates in additional responsibilities as requested by the Manager or Clinical Coordinator, adhering to the guidelines of Medical Assistant certification.

- Must exhibit flexibility and teamwork to adapt to the dynamic clinical environment.

**Qualifications:**

- A minimum of 2 years in a recognized Medical Assistant training program, supplemented by specialized training relevant to the role.

- At least 3 years of direct experience as a Medical Assistant within a healthcare setting.

- Current certification as a Medical Assistant is imperative. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

**Certification Requirements:**

- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

This role requires a blend of technical skills and soft skills essential for effective patient care and collaboration within a medical team.
