This contract position is an on-site role that presents an exceptional opportunity to work with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to delivering high-quality patient care.

In this role, you will play a critical part in our cardiothoracic surgery department, providing comprehensive surgical care to patients with heart and lung conditions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives within our practice.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures and manage pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Conduct patient consultations and evaluations to determine surgical needs
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to plan and execute complex surgeries
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
  • Participate in case reviews and quality assurance activities
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery
  • Stay updated on advancements in cardiothoracic surgery techniques and technologies

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Valid medical license to practice in the state of California
  • Completion of residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Strong clinical skills and surgical expertise in cardiothoracic procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

 

  • Level III Trauma
  • Schedule: 24-hour call shifts, 7a-7a
  • Setting: Hospital and some clinic coverage
  • Average Patient Volume: 2-3 ICU patients, 1-2 admissions, and 2 callbacks
  • Duties: Office hours, hospital rounds, heart team meeting, interacting with APPs, and surgery
  • Required Procedures: Cardiac and thoracic procedures, including CABG, valve surgery, aortic aneurysm repair, TAVR, etc.
  • Support Staff: Medical office staff, perfusionists, nurses, APPs, and anesthesiologists
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Must be board-certified
  • Paid travel & expenses
