As a Locum Emergency Medicine Physician, you will play a vital role in assessing and treating patients in urgent need of medical attention. You will collaborate closely with a team of healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care and support. This position allows you to leverage your skills and experience in a challenging yet rewarding setting within the medical practice industry.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency medical care to patients of all ages
  • Perform thorough assessments and prioritize patient treatment based on urgency
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and specialists to design patient care plans
  • Document patient interactions and treatment plans accurately
  • Manage acute illnesses and injuries in a time-sensitive environment
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the emergency department
  • Educate patients and families about treatment options and follow-up care
  • Comply with all medical protocols and hospital policies

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
  • Completion of accredited residency in Emergency Medicine
  • Active medical license to practice in the state of Louisiana
  • 1-3 years of experience in a clinical emergency medicine setting
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems

Schedule: 24-hour shifts, 8a-8a

Average Daily Volume: 34-45 patients

Annual Volume: 12K patients

Support Staff: APPs

EMR: Epic

Must be board-certified or board-eligible
