We're hiring our first engineer.
Undergrads is building the operating system for real-world labor — a fast-growing marketplace connecting college students with moving, event staffing, and commercial jobs across the U.S.
Our core business is residential moves — high-volume, repeatable, and growing fast across multiple markets. We also power large-scale operations like student housing move-ins and major events like F1 and the Super Bowl.
We’ve proven this works. Now we’re scaling it — building toward a platform that operates in 250+ markets with thousands of students earning income through it.
The Role
You'll be our founding engineer — working directly with the CEO and partnering with ops, growth, and product to turn messy real-world workflows into reliable systems.
Our core platform is Bubble, and it's staying. You’ll take primary ownership of it — tightening workflows, improving data architecture, and building backend logic that keeps operations running smoothly. But Bubble is the foundation, not the ceiling. You'll have full flexibility to layer in Node.js services, Python scripts, API integrations, and whatever else the problem calls for.
This is a build-from-scratch role, not a ticket queue.
What You'll Do
- Own the Bubble platform — workflows, data model, backend logic
- Build and maintain integrations (HubSpot, Stripe, Twilio, Google APIs)
- Replace brittle Zapier chains and Google Sheets with real, maintainable systems
- Build standalone services in Node.js or Python when Bubble isn't the right tool
- Automate ops workflows that currently eat hours of manual work
- Support growth experiments and new market launches with fast iteration
- Prototype and ship AI/LLM-driven workflows (dispatch, pricing, lead routing, comms) that directly impact revenue and efficiency
Why This Role Is Different
- First engineer = real ownership. No legacy team politics. You shape the technical direction.
- Direct line to revenue. The systems you build will book jobs, pay workers, and open new markets.
- Variety over monotony. One week you're building a Twilio integration, the next you're automating invoicing, the next you're prototyping an LLM-powered dispatch tool.
- Clear path to leadership. You'll shape how we build, what we build with, and what the technical foundation looks like as the company scales
Who You Are
- At least 5 years of experience as a FullStack Engineer
- Strong written English communicator — you’re comfortable working async with a US-based team and can clearly explain technical concepts in writing
- You've built and shipped real products — at a company, as a freelancer, or on your own
- Strong with Bubble, comfortable with APIs, and capable of writing Node.js or Python when the job needs it
- You've replaced duct-tape systems with something better and enjoyed doing it
- You care more about solving the problem than which tool solves it
Details
- Remote: US timezone preferred, flexible if overlap works
- Comp: Competitive USD-based monthly rate
