Key Objectives
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures to ensure efficient and comfortable patient care.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide compassionate support and clear communication to patients throughout their visit.
- Manage clinical tasks such as preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and maintaining patient records.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and dental instruments before procedures.
- Assist dentists by passing instruments and materials during dental treatments.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
- Ensure sterilization and proper maintenance of dental equipment.
- Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately.
- Provide post-operative instructions and support to patients.
- Manage inventory of dental supplies and notify management of shortages.
- Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
- Support front office staff with scheduling and patient follow-ups when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
- Current dental assistant certification or license as required by state regulations.
- Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and familiarity with digital radiography.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills and experience with dental practice management software is a plus.
