Key Objectives

  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures to ensure efficient and comfortable patient care.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide compassionate support and clear communication to patients throughout their visit.
  • Manage clinical tasks such as preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and maintaining patient records.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and dental instruments before procedures.
  • Assist dentists by passing instruments and materials during dental treatments.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
  • Ensure sterilization and proper maintenance of dental equipment.
  • Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately.
  • Provide post-operative instructions and support to patients.
  • Manage inventory of dental supplies and notify management of shortages.
  • Maintain compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Support front office staff with scheduling and patient follow-ups when necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
  • Current dental assistant certification or license as required by state regulations.
  • Proficiency in taking dental X-rays and familiarity with digital radiography.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with dental practice management software is a plus.
